Spring has sprung! Everything starts new in the spring semester, and this year LiveText is no exception.
This semester The Citadel's School of Education graduated from the "Classic" version of LiveText to the brand new and improved beta version of the "New Generation" LiveText software.
The "Classic" version of LiveText is an electronic portfolio system designed to help candidates create and share their working and professional portfolios online. It also contains administrative features that allow administrators to collect and share data needed for determining the strengths and weaknesses of educational programs, and to use for accreditation purposes.
The "New Generation" LiveText does all this and more! Here is a listing of a few of the new features:
- "Course management" features have been added, so that professors and administrators can create and assess assignments for their candidates from within LiveText.
- An "Announcement" feature has been added to allow professors to create and send announcements to an entire class by simply typing the announcement and clicking a few buttons.
- Course rosters have been imported, so that each candidate's name appears in the appropriate faculty account, and the appropriate faculty members can easily see who has and has not completed their assignments.
- A "Dashboard" feature has been added to both faculty and candidate accounts. This area keeps all assignments, unread announcements, and the most current documents and reviews organized in one place, so they are easily accessible.
- A "Course" tab lists all of each faculty member's or candidate's LiveText courses, along with course descriptions, assignments, outcomes, standards, and announcements.
Stay tuned for more information about LiveText features as they develop! This is the "beta" version of the New Generation LiveText, which means it is still in development and new features are being added almost daily. What an exciting time! Expect bigger, better, greater things to be revealed in the Fall semester! I will keep you posted.
