School of Education, Athletic Department create Education Day '08

The Citadel Department of Athletics and School of Education have teamed to create "Education Day" to honor Lowcountry educators and administrators as part of The Citadel's September 20, 2008 football game against the Princeton Tigers at Johnson Hagood Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

During halftime The Citadel will recognize the various teachers of the year from Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties, as well as provide a check from Harold's Office Supply to the area school with the most attendees.

At halftime, entertainment will be provided by the Princeton Marching Band which is one of the few "scramble bands" in the country. A scramble band is a marching band with less formality, more satire and humor, and fun for all.

The Athletic Department will provide special opportunities for groups of 15 or more for discounted tickets and a complimentary tailgate lunch. The school with the most representation, based on sales of discounted tickets, will be rewarded with a $500 check from Harold's Office Supply.

"We are happy to work together with our School of Education to help promote our Education Day theme for the Princeton game," said Director of Athletics Les Robinson. "We hope to have a good turnout of Lowcountry educators, students, friends, parents and those associated with their schools for this game."

For additional information on "Education Day" and to register for the discounted tickets and tailgate lunch, please contact Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions Joni Byars at 843/953-6812 or email joni.byars@citadel.edu.
