Education Leaders Club

A Candidate Chapter of ASCD
(Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development)

The Citadel Education Leaders Club, a candidate chapter of ASCD, began the year with a cookout on August 29 at the Boathouse. Approximately 50 cadets attended the meeting. Jermaine Jordan, Bethany Amico, and Patrick Reid, former club presidents shared their perspectives on teaching. National Board Certified teacher, Ms. Barbara Hairfield, spoke about the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies. Ms. Hairfield, teacher specialist at Morningside Middle School, is also an active participant on the Professional Education Board for the Citadel School of Education.

The Citadel Education Leaders Club meets monthly for the purpose of promoting candidates' professional development.

Cadets attend conferences, mentor freshmen, tutor in schools, support the high school teacher cadet programs, and perform various other service activities for the School of Education.
